- Taking off with hand brake and clutch control
- Incline start
- 3 point turn
- Alley docking
- Parallel parking
- Driving with K53 observation
- Repeating all the parkings using K53 observations

Driving Lesson Curriculum
Lesson 1: Theoretical explanation of mechanisms of driving
Emphasis on good theoretical preparation before practical driving. Includes tuition on vehicle mechanics at the start, followed by slow driving in first gear with frequent taking off and stopping.
Lesson 2: Taking off with hand brake, clutch control, and general driving
Covers the “hand brake” method for taking off, which is compulsory for the driving test to prevent rolling. Also focuses on maintaining clutch control, described as the most important skill in driving.
Lesson 3: Incline start
The start of yard training. Practice pulling off on a steep hill, which is the first exercise performed during the yard test.
Lesson 4: 3-point turn
Learning to turn back in a street without an exit using only three maneuvers. This is part of the yard test and focuses on accuracy and self-discipline.
Lesson 5: Alley docking
Deep reverse parking between poles from both sides. Requires continuous concentration and precise clutch control.
Lesson 6: Parallel parking
Considered the most difficult parking task. Involves three steering movements and precise clutch control in a short space.
Lesson 7: K53 observations and incline start checks
Applying the K53 observation system while driving and during incline starts. These observations are mandatory for passing the test.
Lessons 8-10: Repeating all parkings with K53 observations
Re-practicing all yard maneuvers while strictly applying K53 observation checks at the beginning of each movement.
Lesson 11: Pre-trip inspection, hand signals, and emergency stop
Preparation for the start of the yard test. Covers walking around the car for safety checks (external) and internal inspections. Also covers hand signals and emergency stops (though these are less frequently demanded at the Randburg testing station).
